The leading branch of animal husbandry of the Republic of Belarus appears dairy industry, concentrating more than 40% of total production facilities and feed resources. The most important strategic challenge of the further development of the branch appears increase of animal productivity due to balanced feeding base. The paper analyzes the possibility of the ensuring the necessary level of protein in animal feeds while increasing the productivity of cattle and reducing the prime cost. Economic efficiency of feed cultivars is analyzed. Potential of dairy herd productivity depending on feed composition is evaluated. Production and self-cost of milk depending on feeds structure (in the conditions of pasture housing) is researched.
