The article deals with the influence of L-carnitine on the productivity of pigs and changes in the activity of thyroid hormones in their blood. Supplement of L-carnitine in the dose of 50 mg/kg to the mixed feed for pregnant and/or milking sows leads to the increase in the intensity of their growth during the gestation period by 5.0 % and increases their milk producing ability during the suckling period by 11.716.2 %. Young pigs raised under such sows grow faster (by 7.111.9 per cent). Supplement of L-carnitine to the mixed fodders for store pigs improves their meat quality and leads to the increase of "lean‟ pigs (by 4.66.8 per cent). Higher activity of T3 and T4 and an increase in the coefficient of thyroid activity are connected with the better growth and de-velopment of sows and their better milk producing ability. Increase in the level of accumulation of lean tissue in the bodies of stores is coupled with the increase in the activity of T4 and the decrease in the activity of T3. Activity of T3 is higher in fatter pigs
