Mineral fertilizers play an important role in the process of fish growing, supplying fish with necessary nutritive elements, especially with nitrogen and phosphorus. But in the process of evaluation of the content of nitrogen and phosphorus in the ponds it is established that 60-70% of necessary substances are absorbed by bottom soil and dissolved in the water, and only 20% of phosphorus and nitrogen is digested by fish. Evaluation of the chemical composition of the ponds' bottom soils appears a necessary requirement for rational utilization of mineral fertilizers in fishery ponds and optimal consumption of mineral substances by fishes. The article presents agrochemical characteristics of the most common types of soils (muddy peat, sand) of fishponds of individual Belarusian farms. The reserves of nitrogen, phosphorus and organic substances in the soil are calculated. It allows providing a differentiated approach to soil desorption for the rational used of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.
