Artificial growing of fish, in particular, paddle-fish in the conditions of the fisheries requires comprehensive scientific research of the development of the species. Analysis of hematological characteristics, representing the most popular method of physiological control, reflects any changes in blood composition of fish and allows determining blood characteristics, appearing a criterion of maturation of the paddle-fish in local conditions, separately for any fish farm. The article examines hematological characteristics of the older age paddlefish grown in three fish farms in Belarus – Selets, Izobelino and Vilejka. It is determined, that the paddle-fish leukogram has a pronounced lymphoid character; the number of leucocytes increases according to the fish growth and development and reaches its maximum up to 5-6 years. Older age paddle-fish specimen have high body hemoglobin saturation, which is a particular form of adaptation to growing conditions enhancing the endurance of this pelagic fish type.
