Animal husbandry occupies a leading place in agroindustrial sector of the Republic of Belarus and holds about 60% of total commercial output of agricultural production. Feed producing represents a serious part of animal husbandry and development of feed producing branch directly determines quality and quantity of animal production. Unbalanced feed rations, especially deficient protein content in feeds lead to decline of animal husbandry production on 30-40% and provokes increase of self-cost of commercial output 1,5 times. Optimization of the structure of cultivated area with increasing of specific weight of leguminous grasses up to 60% allows increasing feed nutritive value and digestible protein content. Creeping alfalfa (Medicago sativa) appears one of the most important feed grass rich in protein and calcium good combined with maize silage and high-caloric concentrates. Utilization of perennial grasses allows declining of energy consumption 6-10 times. The main goal of the research presented in the article appears evaluation of the possibility of cultivation of the Lucerne (Medicago sativa) on anthropogenically transformed peat soils of different transformation stages. Experiments have been carried out in the conditions of Polesje Experimental Station for Land Reclamation and Grassland Farming during 2009-2012. The level of the crop yield of Lucerne on anthropogenically transformed peat soils has been analyzed; agrarian and economic efficiency of Lucerne cultivation on the soils with different hydrological conditions has been evaluated. Yield increase along with profitability of Lucerne growing has been calculated.
