Creat is one of the most important medicinal plants in Thailand. At present, yield of Creat has not met with national demand and the quality is low, possibly due to different growth stage this experiment is aimed at observing the variation of total lactones content in Creat leaves at different harvesting ages. The seeds were sown on January 7, 2007 at Pakchong Research Station, Pakchong district, Nakhonratchasima province. The plants were harvested at 89, 104, 119, 132, 150, 173, 191, 204 and 217 days after sowing. The results indicated that total lactone in the leaves varied between 3.10-12.13 percent. Creat harvested at 191 days after sowing had the highest contents of total lactones (12.13 percent). The total lactones contents in the leaves harvested during 119-217 days after sowing were higher than the standard specification of Creat in the Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia. The moisture contents of all samples were in the range of 6.30-9.58 percent and were lower than that specified in Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia.
