Impact of leaf anatomical variation of planted native species forest plantations at Gutwala
2015
Rauf, A.
Gatwala artificial forest plantation was thoroughly explored to assess variation in leaf anatomical parameters in native plant species. For leaf anatomy, free hand sectioned slides will be prepared using specific staining procedure. A piece of leaf with midrib will be taken and preserved in alcoholic solution. The material will then transferred in acetic alcohol solution for long-term preservation. The following parameters was studied; leaf thickness, cuticle thickness, epidermis thickness, mesophyll cell area, bundle sheath cell area, vascular bundle area and number and length of hair/ trichomes. Results has revealed that lamina thickness was highly increased in Terminalia arjuna, Azadiracta indica, Tecomallia undulata and Callicarpa macrophylla. The minimum lamina thickness was recorded in Olea ferruginea. Abaxial epidermis thickness was highly increased in Terminalia arjuna, Olea ferruginea, Tecomallia undulata and Azadirachta indica. The minimum abaxial epidermis thickness was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla. Adaxial epidermis thickness was highly increased in Azadirachta indica, Terminalia arjuna, Tecomallia undulate and Olea ferruginea. The minimum adaxial epidermis thickness was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla. Midrib thickness was highly increased in Tecomallia arjuana, Callicarpa macrophylla, Tecomallia undulate and Azadirachta indica. The minimum midrib thickness was recorded in Olea ferrugenia. Abaxial epidermis cell area was highly increased in Terminalia arjuna, Olea ferruginea, Tecomallia undulata and Azadirachta indica. The minimum abaxial epidermis cell area was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla. Adaxial epidermis cell area was highly increased in Terminalia arjuna, Olea ferruginea, Azadirachta indica and Tecomalia undulata. The minimum adaxial epidermis cell area was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla. Abaxial stomatal area was highly increased in Olea ferruginea, Tecomallia undulata, Callicarpa macrophylla and Terminalia arjuana. The minimum abaxial stomatal area was recorded in Azadirachta indica. Adaxial stomatal area was highly increased in Tecomallia undulata, Olea ferrugeina, Terminallia arjuana and Callicarpa macrophylla. The minimum adaxial stomatal area was recorded in Azadirachta indica. Abaxial stomatal length was highly increased in Olea ferruginea, Azadirachta indica, Tecomallia undulata and Terminalia arjuana. The minimum abaxial stomatal length was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla. Adaxial stomatal length was highly increased in Tecomallia undulata, Terminalia arjuana, Olea ferrugeina and Azadirachta indica. The minimum adaxial stomatal length was recorded in Callicarpa macrophylla Abaxial stomatal number was highly increased in Tecomallia undulata, Olea ferrugeina, Callicarpa macrophylla and Azadirachta indica. The minimum abaxial stomatal number was recorded in Terminallia arjuana.Adaxial stomatal number was highly increased in Tecomallia undulata, Olea ferrugeina, Callicarpa macrophylla and Azadirachta indica. The minimum adaxial stomatal number was recorded in Terminallia arjuana.
