Iqbal, K.
The present project was planned to investigate the efficacy of acidification in a phytase pretreated Corn gluten meal based diet to improve the scale mineralization in Labeo rohita juveniles. Four corn gluten meal based experimental diets named as Dl, D2, D3 and D4 was manufactured by supplementing citric acid (%) and phytase (FTU/kg) at the level of 0, 0; 2, 0; 0, 1000 and 2, 1000, respectively. Results showed that the supplementation of citric acid (2%) significantly improved (P less than 0.05) the P, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe contents in scales of Labeo rohita juveniles. Addition of phytase also significantly improved (P less than 0.05) the scale mineralization in Labeo rohita juveniles. The results further showed that supplementation of both the supplements (citric acid and phytase) simultaneously, also improved the scale mineralization. In conclusion, citric acid and phytase are promising supplements in improving the scale mineralization in L. rohita juveniles.
