Azam, A.
The activity of digestive enzymes viz. amylase and lipase in Ctenopharyngodon idella was studied under intensive culture system. Ten fish were stocked in each aquarium and fed twice with rice polish and corn gluten @ 3 % wet biomass per day. On weekly basis fish wet weight, fork and total lengths were measured and recorded. The activity of digestive enzymes (amylase and lipase) was determined at the end of experimental trial, by using standard techniques. The statistical analyses on data showed that wet weight of fish varied significantly between the fish fed with rice polish and corn gluten. The corn gluten showed significantly better growth than rice polish. The differences among weeks for fish growth was statistically different. The fork and total length gain showed almost similar trend as weight. The correlation coefficient among water quality parameters showed positively significant relationship between DO and pH in rice polis feed test medium. Correlation coefficient among different water quality parameters fed with corn gluten feed test medium showed positively significant relationship between temperature and E.C. The activity of amylase was greater in fish liver than intestine. The activity of lipase in fish fed with rice polish was more in intestine than liver. So, it was concluded that lipase and amylase activity was different in different organs.
