Beef and pork markets and the prognosis by the year 2020

The article focuses on analysis and prognosis of situation on world, EU´s internal and Slovak beef and pork market. It places emphasis on production, price, consumption and foreign trade development. Based on ex-ante analysis resulted that pork prices in EU countries will move at higher level at the end of forecasted period compared to their historical maximum contrary to beef prices where the situation will be the opposite. In Slovakia the beef production will exceed a domestic consumption in the year 2020 thus maintain presumptions for export abroad. Approximately third of domestic beef demand will further have to be replenished through import.
