Dans l'Est-Kalimantan, l'adoption de nouveau matériel végétal dépend de sa disponibilité et du coût, de l'organisation et la cohésion sociale. les exploitants sont , en général, convaincus par les bonnes performances des nouveaux clones d'hévéa. La culture associée est préférée à la monoculture puisqu'elle assure à la fois des revenus constants et l'autosuffisance alimentaire. Le travail et la fertilisation du sol sont les contraintes majeures. L'adoption de la culture du palmier à huile est facilitée par l'accès au crédit est aux intrants
