Sunflower is one of the most widespread oil crops on the world, with multiple production limiting factors and a wide range of phytopathogens which can cause a lot of serious economic damage. In this study the resistance of 39 sunflower hybrids, 20 from Romania (NARDI Fundulea) and 19 from the Republic of Moldova (AMG-Agroselect Comert), was evaluated for different pathogens attack under natural infection conditions on experimental fields of Braila Research and Development Station (Romania). Romanian hybrids have shown higher resistance levels to Phoma, Phomopsis and Botrytis, the percent of plants with infection symptoms being of 70%, 45% and 15%, respectively, in comparison with the hybrids from the Republic of Moldova (90%, 75% and 65%, respectively). By comparative analysis, the hybrids from the Republic of Moldova showed a high level of resistance to broomrape, the attack frequency ranged between 0 - 12.6%, compared to those from Romania with values ranging from 2.5% to 68%.
