Changes in stomatal conductivity (SC), leaf temperature, transpiration coefficient (TC) and seed productivity of soybean plants under complex stress conditions (water shortage, high temperature, increased bicarbonate content in soil, dry air, etc.) were studied. An increased bicarbonate content in soil upon sufficient moisture availability tends to reduce the SC and leaf TC (with an increase in the temperature difference “leaf minus air”). Under complex stress (increased salt content and repeated drought) SC and leaf TC decrease, the leaf area and the seed productivity of plants sharply decrease. The efficiency of water use by soybean plants from the ratio of dry weight to the transpiration of whole plants is close to the leaf WUEi from the ratio of respiration to transpiration; the estimation of the leaf WUEi from the ratio of photosynthesis to transpiration is significantly higher.
