Investigation of the hygroscopicity of motor fuels | Исследование гигроскопичности моторных топлив

Английский. The purpose of the research is to study the hygroscopicity of motor fuels for agricultural diesel engines, including vegetable oils. The summer petroleum diesel fuel, biodiesel fuel synthesized from sunflower oil, sunflower oil and mixed fuel containing 50% vol. biodiesel and 50% vol. commercial petroleum diesel fuel were investigated. Calculations of the strength of the bonds formed between the fuel molecules and the water molecule were carried out using the HyperChem software. It is established that hygroscopicity of fuels during storage is determined by their structure and depends not only on the presence of functional groups in the molecule that are able to form bonds with water, but also on the spatial structure of the molecule. Of the fuels studied, the mixture of petroleum diesel hydrocarbons is the most hydrophobic system. Petroleum diesel fuel had the lowest hydrophilicity index, it practically did not absorb water even when stored together for six months. Under identical storage conditions, greater hydrophilicity compared to petroleum fuel showed vegetable oil. Absorption of water by vegetable oil was 0.11% during the storage period. The molecules of biodiesel esters have a greater hydrophilicity than vegetable oil. Absorption of water by contact with biodiesel amounted to 0.23% for six months. Water absorption remained equal to 0.28% during the period of storage of mixed fuel containing 50% of biodiesel and 50% of commercial petroleum diesel fuel. Thus, biodiesel fuel obtained during processing of vegetable oil absorbs more water during storage than commercial petroleum diesel fuel. The results of the conducted studies make it possible to predict hygroscopicity in the storage of biodiesel fuels synthesized from various vegetable oils, if their fatty acid composition is known. It was found that the most hydrophilic would be the fuel obtained through the methanolysis of linseed oil, in which the content of linolenic acid radicals is high.

Русский. Цель – исследование гигроскопичности моторных топлив для дизелей с.-х. назначения, в том числе растительных масел. Исследовали нефтяное летнее дизельное топливо, биодизельное топливо (БДТ), синтезированное из подсолнечного масла, подсолнечное масло и смесевое топливо, содержащее (по объему) 50% биодизельного и 50% товарного нефтяного дизтоплива. Расчёты прочности связей, образующихся между молекулами топлива и молекулой воды, проводили с помощью программы HyperChem. Установлено, что гигроскопичность топлив при хранении определяется их строением и зависит не только от присутствия в молекуле функциональных групп, способных образовывать связи с водой, но и от пространственной структуры молекулы. Из исследуемых топлив смесь углеводородов нефтяного дизельного топлива является самой гидрофобной системой. Нефтяное дизельное топливо имело самые низкие показатели гидрофильности, оно практически не поглощало воду даже при совместном хранении в течение 6 месяцев. При одинаковых условиях хранения большую гидрофильность по сравнению с нефтяным топливом показало растительное масло. Поглощение воды растительным маслом за период хранения составило 0,11%. Большей гидрофильностью, чем растительное масло, обладают молекулы эфиров БДТ. Поглощение воды при соприкосновении с ней БДТ в течение 6 месяцев составило 0,23%. За период хранения смесевого топлива, содержащего 50% биодизельного и 50% товарного нефтяного дизельного топлива, поглощение воды оставило 0,28%. Таким образом, БДТ, получаемое при переработке растительного масла, поглощает при хранении больше воды, чем товарное нефтяное дизельное топливо. Результаты проведенных исследований позволяют прогнозировать гигроскопичность при хранении БДТ, синтезированных из различных растительных масел, если известен их жирнокислотный состав. Установлено, что самым гидрофильным будет топливо, полученное при метанолизе льняного масла, в котором велико содержание радикалов линоленовой кислоты.
