Determination of residual effect of deltamethrin against sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in stored-grain
2017
Sakallı, A.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the residual effects Deltamethrin on different stored grains against Sitophilus oryzae. In order to determine the residual efficacy of deltamethrin against S. oryzae, stored wheat, barley and maize were treated with different doses of deltamethrin. Then, S. oryzae adults were kept for 6 days in the test vials including treated grains monthly interval during the 6 or 12 month exposure at 20o C. After a week of exposure, mortality were determined on the grain. This procedure was repeated at monthly intervals for 6 and 12 months. Results showed that deltamethrin was effective against S. oryzae during 6 and 12 months of storage. For 6 moth-storage, highest mortality were 100 % at 0.360 mg/kg deltamethrin dosage and the lowest mortality were determined at 0.360 mg/kg deltamethrin dosage on wheat. On barley and maize, highest mortality were 100 % at 0.360 mg/kg deltamethrin dosage on wheat and the lowest mortality were determined at 0.132 mg/kg deltamethrin dosage for six-moth storage. For 12-moth storage, the highest mortality were 100% on barley and corn and the lowest mortality were at 0.132 mg/kg on barley and maize.
