Transcriptional activity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX1 AND APX3) in Helianthus annuus L. infected with Orobanche cumana WALLR

Sunflower is one of the most valuable crops grown on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. An unfavorable factor for its productivity is the holoparasite Orobanche cumana. Despite a large number of studies conducted to understand pathogen-host interaction mechanisms, many aspects remain unknown and require full understanding of biological processes and metabolic pathway regulation networks that activate defensive mechanisms. Analysis of APX1 and APX3 gene expression profile on the immediate (pre-attachment) and active defense and adaptation mechanisms (post-attachment and post-haemorrhage) in two resistant and one susceptible genotypes revealed different regularities in transcripts patterns by oscillatory modifications of expression, increasing and decreasing only in two genotypes (PR64LE20 and Performer).
