In recent decades, invasive weeds have become a huge problem, both in na- tural ecosystems where they adversely affect the present flora, and on agricultural land, where they become dominant weeds, difficult to control in a short period of time. One of these weeds is Asclepias syriaca. It is widespread in Vojvodina and beyond, posing a huge problem for farmers when it spreads on the field where it is difficult to suppress it by chemical measures. The most effective ways to control this weed is chemical control with glyphosate or 2,4-D herbicides in the early growth stage, and mechanical control through constant pulling and mowing. However, the most effective way to control A. syriaca is through the combination of chemical and mechanical control measures. Although extremely harmful, this weed has the potential to find practical application in the control of some other weed species and phytopathogenic microorganisms.
