Coccidia species diversity in turkeys living at the private farms of the Leningrad region | Видовое разнообразие кокцидий индеек на фермерских хозяйствах Ленинградской области

Английский. Сoccidiosis is a common disease, the causative agent of which are parasites from the genus Eimeria, the order Coccidia. Annually, this disease causes enormous economic damage to industrial poultry including turkey breeding. The most susceptible to the disease are young individuals at the age of about 6 weeks. Coccidia parasitize in the gastrointestinal tract of birds, disrupting the digestive process in various parts of the intestine, which can cause the death of birds. Effective methods of treatment of coccidiosis have not yet been developed, so the single way to stop it is – preventive measures, constant monitoring of circulating species of Eimeria on the territory of poultry farms, the use of drugs coccidiostatics- to prevent outbreaks of the disease and vaccination with attenuated live vaccines. Studies were carried out to determine the species composition of coccidia cultures from two farms of the Leningrad region. Studies were carried out from the biological material (droppings) of turkey. From the obtained material, a culture of coccidia was isolated according to generally accepted methods. The species belonging of the isolated Eimeria, their morphological and biometric properties were determined. Identification was based on the clinical, pathological, morphological and biometric characteristics. As a result of the assays, the species composition and territorial distribution of turkey Eimeria in the Leningrad region were determined. Species have been identified: E. adenoeides, E. meleagrimitis. This is one of the most pathogenic species of coccidia, which are quite widespread in poultry farms around the world. It is necessary to monitor the spread of Eimeria regularly in these turkey farms in order to plan the prevention of outbreaks of coccidiosis as effectively as possible.

Русский. Кокцидиоз - часто встречающаяся болезнь, возбудителем которой являются паразиты из рода Eimeria, отряда Coccidia. Ежегодно это заболевание наносит колоссальный экономический ущерб промышленному птицеводству, в т.ч. индейководству. Наиболее подвержены заболеванию молодые особи в возрасте примерно до 6 нед. Кокцидии паразитируют в желудочно-кишечном тракте птицы, нарушая процесс пищеварения в различных отделах кишечника, что может привести к гибели птицы. Эффективных методов лечения кокцидиоза до сих пор разработано, поэтому единственным способом борьбы с ним остается только профилактика - постоянный мониторинг циркулирующих видов эймерий на территории птицеводческих хозяйств, применение препаратов-кокцидиостатиков для недопущения возникновения вспышек болезни и вакцинопрофилактика с помощью аттенуированных живых вакцин. Были проведены исследования по определению видового состава культур кокцидий из двух фермерских индейководческих хозяйств Ленинградской области. Исследования проводились из биологического материала (помета) индейки. Из полученного материала выделяли культуру кокцидий по общепринятым методикам. Определяли видовую принадлежность выделенных эймерий, их морфологические и биометрические свойства. Типировали виды эймерий по клиническим, патологоанатомическим, морфологическим и биометрическим признакам. В результате проведенных опытов определяли видовой состав и территориальное распространение эймерий индейки в Ленинградской области. Были выделены виды Е. adenoeides, E. meleagrimitis. Это одни из наиболее патогенных видов кокцидий, которые довольно широко распространены в птицеводческих хозяйствах по всему миру. Необходимо регулярно проводить мониторинг распространения эймерий в данных индейководческих хозяйствах, чтобы максимально эффективно планировать профилактику вспышек кокцидиоза.
