The antioxidant activity of nine marine sponges extracts is reported herein. Antioxidant assays were carried out by using the reduction in optical density (OD)of 1, I-diphenyl-p-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and by determining the total phenolic content. Of all the nine crude extracts examined, only two samples exhibited strong DPPH free radical scavenging activity, which were P03/012 and B04/002 with 93.38% and 82.04% inhibition respectively. P03/012 and B04/002 also showed high total phenolic content which were 9 mg/g and 4 mg/g gallic acid equivalent (GAE), respectively.
