Evaluation of 3 types of knapsack equipment for spraying cypermethrin to control Adoretus compressus and Oryctes rhinoceros in immature oil palms

During anacute infestation ofcockchaferbeetles, Adorestus compressus, occurringinafield of newly planted oil palms, conventional knapsack sprayer, F 120 knapsack sprayer and motorised knapsack mistblower were evaluated. After 6 rounds of 2 weekly spraying of cyperrnethrin (0.005%), the three sprayers were found suitable and recorded significant reduction of severe damaged fronds in the upper and middle position. Similarly, these 3 knapsack equipment were evaluated for the control of rhinoceros beetles, Oryctes rhinoceros in immature oil palms (second year of field planting). After 7 months of 2 weekly spraying of cyperrnethrin (0.1 %), all the three sprayers were found suitable and recorded significant reduction in the number of severely and moderately damaged palms.
