Elevated ambient temperature and humidity during the summer are the main factors thatadversely affect the health and reproductive performance of dairy cows. The aim of this studyis to investigate indicators of mineral status in the blood of cows during periods of elevatedambient temperature. The trial included 45 cows of the Holstein-Friesian breed, in the secondlactation, of equal physical fitness and good health. Cows were divided into threeexperimental groups: 15 cows exposed to heat stress in the middle of lactation, 15 cowsexposed to heat stress at the beginning of lactation, and 15 cows in the thermoneutral zone. The concentration of calcium, inorganic phosphorus and magnesium was determined. Basedon the obtained results, significantly lower concentrations of calcium and phosphorus areobserved in cows exposed to heat stress relative to the thermoneutral zone, with calciumconcentrations significantly lower at the beginning of lactation. The magnesiumconcentration showed no significant deviation.
