Effect of different substrates on yield, quality and plant nutrition consumption of soilless culture in tomato growing

Kilic, P.
In this study, it was investigated to determinate the effect of widelly used of soilless culture subsrate such as rockwool, coconut fiber and perlite su on plant growth, yield and fruit quality further media nutrient consumption on tomato cultivation under greenhouse condation. As a growing system was used horizontal bag culture. In the experiment, plant biomass, leaf; height, width and next to index measurements besides, fruit; taste, aroma, acidity, water-soluble solids (TSS) content and lycopene content as well as fruit quality parameters were determined. In addition, leaf nutrient concentration (N,P,K) with water and nutrient consumption of substrates have been investigated.According to these results, the most fruit quality was determinated in coconut fiber while the highest total yield was reached in perlite cultivation of tomatoes. In plant leaf analysis on nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) were not showed significantly difference between the substrates. The highest value of using nutrient solution and amount of fertilizer were detected in perlite substrate while it was followed by cocopeat and rockwool substrates.
