The examination of the decision processes of harvesting operation within the scope of environmentally-soundly forestry

Raising the awareness and attitude environmental protection of human being is required to act responsibly with interference in forest ecosystem. The production of wood raw material and infrastructure performed in accordance with this purpose might be harmful to the forest ecosystem in the short and medium term. This thesis study is prepared to determine whether environmental impact resultant in several scales is awared during the production operation and it is acted responsibly to environment in decision process.Within this scope, probable environmental impacts and risks of the harvesting operation which are literature aided are arrayed. In pursuit of these, the administrative and application process of the wood production is mapped by being analyzed. Criteria and indicator list which avails to measure and descript the environmental impacts of production operation is compiled. After then, stakeholder analysis is made to determine who gives decision in administrative and operational process. In every step of process, by quantal analysis with he help of measure and descript set in decision phase whether ecosystem protection is taken into account it is scrutinized whether desicions for forest ecosystem protection are made. Especially, productive activity is scrutinized directly with observational method in Ankara Regional Forest Directorate, Çubuk Forest Sub-District Directorate. This is made in order to analyze the operational process belonging to production operation. In addition to this, the attitudes about subject of forest engineer are specified via survey and interview to evaluate both operational and administrative process. As a consequence; harvesting is understood that administrative process is long for making decision about production and they are ill-informed about environment conscious though it is taken special precautions even so it is generally acted to environment preservative. In operational process, it is determined that probable environmental risks are not awared, despite the warning by director about subject, it is specified the absence of an application guide.
