An experiment was conducted during 2004-05 on 4-year-old 'Oregon Spur' apple plants [Malus domestics (Borkh)] to evaluate new acaricides against motile stages of European red mite (Panonychus ulmi Koch) under field conditions. Among new acaricides clofentezine (0.01,0.02%), fenazaquin (0.002,0.0015%) and propargite (0.057,0.0285%) were evaluated and compared with the already recommended standard insecticides, viz chlorpyriphos (0.04%), dicofol(0.037%) and malathion (0.05%). Among all clofentezine (0.01,0.02%) and fenazaquin (0.002) and (0.0015%) provided excellent control of motile and egg stages ofP. ulmi followed by propargite (0.057 and 0.0285%) for more than 30 days, whereas standard insecticides could provide control up to 10 days only.
