The paper is a brief analysis of the constructive elements of the roundabout, of the international practice related to the design and arrangement of these intersections, the beneficial influence on the safety, the fluidization of the traffic and, respectively, the increase of the passage capacity at these intersections. At the same time, the problem is related to the fact that, at present, in the Republic, the design and arrangement of the roundabouts are carried out on the basis of the technical documentation elaborated in the last century, not taking into account the international experience and the performance programs for design and fitting out. As a result, these arrangements (redevelopments) only lead to unjustified material losses, having a negative impact on the safety and the ability to cross the refurbished intersections.
