Carbon Footprint in Sugar Beet Cultivation

One of the current challenges is to solve negative climate changes, especially global warming, which affects greenhouse gas emissions. The total amount of greenhouse gas emissions released during the life cycle of a product or service is called the carbon footprint. This article briefly introduces the issue and suggests some ideas on how sugar beet production can affect the carbon footprint and how it could contribute to the accomplishment of such an ambitious goal. Estimating greenhouse gas emissions from sugar beet cultivation is an essential part of assessing its sustainability in the agricultural system. The article lists several measures that can be expected to reduce the carbon footprint of its cultivation.
