Probability analysis of rainfall during rice transplanting period was attempted to obtain basic information on probability chence of rainfall occurrence. The long term rainfall data of six areas, Suwon, Kangleung, Taegu, Kwangju, Chonju and Chinju from the least period of 45 years to the longest period of 76 years recorded by the Central Meteorological office and Rural Development Administration were used to analyze. The gamma-parameter (shape parameter) of Taegu was higher than other 5 areas, while the beta-parameter (Scale parameter) was lower in rainfall gamma distribution. The frequency of no rainfall was the highest in the period from May 21 to Jun 4 for all over 6 areas and its value was the highest in Taegu where this area was subjected to the drought risk. An assured probability rainfall of 16.7 mm in Suwon and Chin2033ju for each pentad before transplanting rice was higher than 75 % and Taegu and Chonju area showed less than 75 % probability, especially an area in early transplanting period was lower than late transplanting period. Spectrum analysis showed that return periods of drought in Taegu were about 4
