Productive value of crossbreds F1 born by East Friesian ewes mated with rams of Polish Merino or Wielkopolska breeds

hThe aim of the breeding work was to form two lines of prolific and much wool producing sheep. The authors evaluated live weight gains, wool production and reproductive performance of crossbreds F1: East Friesian x Polish Merino and East Friesian x Wielkopolska sheep. In the crossbred lambs the weight gains were higher. The mature ewes in two crossbred groups gave 4.8 kg and 5.4 kg greasy wool in the yearly shearing when they were 2 years old. The rams of 18 months old produced yearly 7.1 and 8.2 kg greasy wool resp. The ewes F1 in their third year of life bore mean 1.8 lamb in a litter. High index of fecundity and milk yield in ewes F1 indicated their good mothering abil
