Studies on Cambio- and xylophagous insects of fir and spruce in different developmental stages of stand in the Forest Experimental Station in Krynica

Entomological analysis was completed on 327 pieces of fir and 75 pieces of spruce breeding materials. A total of 32 s2007pecies of cambio- and xylophagous insects were found including 22 species developing on fir and 21 species developing on spruce (11 species were connected with both tree species). A greatest importance in causing death of fir trees in plots had the insects: Cryphalus piceae, Pissodes piceae and Pityophthorus pityographus while spruce trees were killed by Cryphalus abietis, Dryocoetes autographus and P. pityographus. The most injurious for fir were: Elateroides dermestoides, Serropalpus barbatus, Trypodendron lineatum and Urocerus gigas and for spruce - E. dermestoides and T. line
