shThe effects of drainage on surface water flows, on soils and floristic composition of plant communities and their productivity and on the trophic structure of heterotrophs were investigated. Basing on the analysis of density and biomass of heterotrophic organisms it was endavoured to show that processes of mineralization of organic matter occurred slower with elapse of time since drainage providing that there was no overdrying of the soil. Comparison was made of number of organisms, biomass, decomposition rate and meadow productivity situated in various zones of the valley cross-section.
