Role of pollinating insects in fruiting of some red raspberry cultivars
1987
Wieniarska, J. (Agricultural University, Lublin (Poland))
It was found that the yields of open pollinated plants were always significantly higher than those of net-covered plants. Covering plants with nets lowered the yield of Malling Jewel by 13.6%, of Veten by 16.8%, of Norna by 24.5% and Malling Promise by 25.4%. Lowering of the yield was due to the fact that fruits were smaller and that the number of drupelets in a fruit was smaller. (Author)
