The combinations of triclopyr [(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinyl) oxy acetic acid, butoxy ethyl ester] and 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid, n-butyl ester) conducted during June 1983 to October 1984 found that the interaction was slightly synergistic. According to assessing by counting the number of living tubers in the greenhouse experiments, it was found that the most suitable combination were triclopyr in the range of 900 to 1,200 ppm ae and 2,4-D 1,200 to 2,400 ppm ae at volume rate of 500 L/ha which resulted in number of living tubers only 14.9 to 19.6 percent of untreated check. The field experiment results were more or less similar to those obtained from greenhouse studies. At the combinations of 600 to 1,200 ppm ae triclopyr plus 2,400 to 2,700 ppm ae 2,4-D with the same volume rate, the numb1155er of living tubers were found to be 35.5 to 42.8 percent of untreated check. The efficacy of the combinations was not decreased by washing off with water 3 hrs after application. The synergistic activity of the combination would be observed even though with one-day sequential application. With urea at 20,000 ppm in the combinations tended to increase the activity but not with nonionic surfactant (octylphenol ethylene oxide) to the combinations at 700 to 900 ppm ae triclopyr plus 2,100 to 2,700 ppm ae 2
