Finding out the best time to insert softwood blackberry cuttings and the mode of their preparation for the production of transplants

Investigation of the method of production of blackberry seedlings was performed upon the variety Thorn Free. The following was found: earlier (July 21 st) insertion of softwood cuttings brings about better rooting than later one (in August);"node" pruning of softwood cuttings gives a higher percentage of rooted cuttings than "bud" pruning: the upper third of the shoot sector gives more rooted cuttings; the largest number of roots and with the longest roots were obtained from the cuttings taken from the upper third of the shoots; the rooted cuttings planted in spring in a permanent place and in the same year gave 1 to 3 shoots and some fruits.
