Some anatomical properties of Casuarina equisetifolia Forst. grown in three different regions in Iraq

This study was put to investigate the effect of three regions for plantation namely: Kasiba, Noriya and Dibis on some anatomical properties and their variations throughout the stems of Casuarina equisetifolia Forst. Analysis of variance showed that the regions, height and radial levels in the tree had a highly significant effect upon all the anatomical properties studied. It was shown that the largest means for fibers and vessel elements lengths and vessel elements diameters respectively, were found in Dibis plantation, while the lowest means for them were alternately noticed in Ksiba plantation. The largest means for fibre diameter and fibre wall thickness were found in Ksiba and the lowest for them were found in Noriya and Dibis. Regarding the variation throughout the stem, it appeared that fiber length and diameter decreased with increasing height levels, while vessel elements length increased with them. Fibre wall thickness and vessel elements diameter showed no constant variation with respect to height levels.
