Field evaluation of Edovum puttleri Grissel (Hym., Eulophidae) on eggs of Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say (Col., Chrysomelidae) in Central Italy

Results are reported of an experiment conducted on two plots of Solanum melongena L. in 1986 and 1987 in two locations in Central Italy to evaluate acclimatization, as well as efficiency of the parasite Edovum puttleri Grissel on potato beetle eggs. Results showed that: E. puttleri was not able to overwintering because of low temperatures: the efficiency of this parasite, expressed as the ratio of the number of released females to the number of parasitized and collapsed potato-beetle eggs, was very different in the two environments, best results were obtained by doing timed-releases beginning with the first appearance of adult potato beetles that had overwintered
