In pot trial, wheat plants were fertilized with an equal amount of nitrogen in the form of Ca(NO3)2 or (NH4)2S04 or NH4NO3. Plant of each N-form were sprayed twice with either tap water or aqueous solution of MnS04. Applying of N-fertilization in the form of NH4NO3 caused the highest chlorophyll a + b and carotenoids content as well as increased grain yield. Ca(NO3)2 was the best form for increasing straw yield. MnSO4 spraying significantly increased chl. a + b and grain yield, whereas it had no significant effect on chl. b, carotenoids, straw yield and protein percentage. The most pronounced interaction for increasing chl. a and chl. a + b was found when plants were fertilized with NH4NO3 and sprayed with MnSO4. Foliar nutrition with Mn SO4 had only a positive effect on plants fertilized with Ca(NO3)2 as for increasing grain yield.
