Studies were conducted for testing five strains of sorghum and sudan grasses, subjected to drought. These strains included: Piper, Trudan 6, De Kalb, NK Sordan, and Line 103. All strains were treated with four cycles of drought in a growth chamber. All plants of all strains survived the four cycles of drought. The differences in dry weight production of strains were highly significant. The highest dry weight production was reached by NK Sordan, which was significantly different from the other strains. The difference in moisture percentages of strains at harvest were highly significant, with Piper the lowest in moisture percentage. This laboratory technique is one of the methods that have been implemented for screening drought resistance.
