Trials were conducted to determine the values of selected blood parameters of a one year old stock of wild and cultivated carps at the onset of the growing season, and to point out the differences. After two weeks of adaptation, the average haematocrit values and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration of both forms of carp remained at the threshold level of the physiological range and haemoglobin was even below the threshold. The average values of the parameters under study were higher in the wild carp. However, the difference was insignificant. A statistically highly significant difference was recorded in the total lipids of the plasma and in cholesterol, and a significant difference in the total plasma protein, the higher values being recorded in the wild carp. After 52 days of keeping the fish under laboratory conditions, both forms of carp had a highly significantly increased haemoglobin content. Like in the first group, higher values were recorded here in the wild carp, the differences being significant (haemoglobin and total lipids), highly significant (haematocrit), and insignificant (total protein). Cholesterol content was an exception: its average values were higher in the cultivated form of carp, the difference being highly significant.
