Parallel measurements of the weather phenomena influencing the growth of the biomass were conducted in a mature stand and in a forest clearing overgrown with a young stock, old 11 years. These phenomena included air temperature, soil temperature, air humidity, global radiation. The measurements confirmed greater energy gains in the clearing. Starting in February and finishing in August, the latter had a higher five-year average temperature; for the whole year it had higher five-year average soil temperature (measured in a depth of 6 cm). Soil temperature culminated in August, a month later than did air temperature; the same was recorded in the effective temperature sums. On a five-year average for the annual average air humidities, the relative humidity was higher by 8 per cent in the forest. The occurrence of rainfal deficit, hence the possibility of drought, was observed in 1988.
