The study was initiated by the social requirement for the evaluation of economic possibilities of the farm breeding of fallow deer in Slovakia. In the analytical part of the study we were concerned with the evaluation of actual economic results during the period 1988 and 1989. When compared with the year 1988, the costs of 1 feeding day increased by 16.30 per cent in 1989. The highest proportion in this increase was represented by the costs of actual feeds, 50 per cent wage taxes and the costs of veterinary and breeding treatment. In the theoretical part, the relation between the density of animals per 1 ha of land and costs per 1 feeding day were compared. The basic characterstics derived from the quadratic regression equations confirmed that the maximum density in stock herd was 16.12 animals; at the conversion of fallow deer units the maximum density was 31.57 animals at the congruent minimum actual costs per 1 feeding day. We recommend intensive production with a higher density of animals - this conclusion was reached on the basis of the research results.
