Differences in response of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) to Zn, Mo, and Cu

A field experiment was conducted during the 1988 dry season at Citayam Experimental Farm, Bogor, to study the effect of Zn, Mo and Cu and their method of application on growth and yield of peanut. A split plot design with three replications was used. The main plot was treatment with micro elements pelleted on the seeds or sprayed to the peanut plants and the sub plots, with treatment combinations of Zn, Mo, and Cu micro elements. The results showed that micro elements pelleted on the seeds increased the number and weight of root nodules, total N and Mo absorbed, 100-seed weight and yield of peanut. Compared to the control check, Zn and Cu micro elements applied individually did not affect the yield and yield components significantly but applications of Mo and its combinations with the other micronutrients, however, gave higher number and weight of root nodules, plant height at harvesting time, NAR, RGR, LAI, chlorophyll content, 100-seed weight, and yield. The highest yield of dry pod obtained was 2.15 t/ha. The yield was positively correlated with the number of root nodule number filled pod and 100-seed weight. Among the parameters a positive correlations between the number of root nodules and the weight of root nodules was observed.
