Fungicides as phytopathological tools for integrated disease management in wheat

The annual changing of epidemic situations over a period of 5 years (1987-1991) at the site Roggenstein (district Fuerstenfeldbruck, Upper Bavaria) (research station of the Technical University Munich-Weihenstephan) made an evaluation of the fungicidal effects of Anilazin (Dyrene), BAS 480F, Bromuconazol, Chlorthalonil (Daconil), Cyproconazol (Alto), Difenocanzol (CGA 169 374), Flusilazol (DPX H 6573), Guazatin (Radam), Iminoctadintriacetat (SN 89161), Iprodion (Verisan), Prochloraz (Sportak), Propiconazol (Desmel), Tebuconazol (Folicur) and Triadimenol (Bayfidan) against Septoria nodorum, Septoria tritici, Drechslera tritici-repentis, Fusarium nivale and Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides in two cultivars ('Apollo', 'Basalt', 'Ares' resp.) possible, based on differentiated data collected of the infestation and the yield. The population dynamics of the Septoria-species has been characterized by counting the number of pycnidia on several leaf levels at 12 dates (growth stages EC 32-EC 75), the final infestation of P. herpotrichoides has been classified in development stage EC 75 and the fungicide effects against F. nivale and D. tritici-repentis has been ascertained at growth stage EC 75 by counting out washed off spores (flag and second upper leaves). Depending on different pathogen situations, the dominance of several diseases and the effects of specific and broad spectrum fungicides yield losses up to 2.1 tonnes/hectare could be prevented. The most distinct biological effects against S. nodorum were shown by the systemic fungicides BAS 480 F, Difenoconazol, Tebuconazol and Flusilazol, within this group Propiconazol and Prochloraz.
