The four-year test was carried out in two viticultural areas of the province of Verona: that of Bardolino in which the cultivation of red grape vine cultivars is predominant and that of Bianco di Custoza in which white cultivars are the primary cultivation. The purpose of the test was to establish rootstocks influence on vine production. The rootstocks subject to comparison were 420 A, SO 4, 140 Ru, 41 B, 1103 P, 5 C and 161.49 grafted on Corvina, Rondinella (Bardolino area), Trebbiano t., Garganega e Cortese (Bianco di Custoza area). The data processed emphasized that the rootstocks influenced the vines production in both experimental vineyards, but more in the Bianco di Custoza vineyard, where the comparison occurred in a soil with a high content of active carbonate. The data also emphasized that the cultivar production is influenced by the rootstocks adopted and so it must be chosen in accordance with the cultivar. The rootstocks influence on production throughout years was little, apart from some cases in which they induced a major or minor stability of production compared to the environmental average
