Forest pathology and forest mycology in Zimbabwe
1990
Masuka, A. | Piearce, G.D. (Forest Research Centre, Harare (Zimbabwe))
The paper narrates the pathology work in Zimbabwe dating back to the early 1900s up to the present. It describes the disease and disorder surveys and stresses the importance of accurate and timely reporting of any suspected diseases. Most records of diseases of forest trees pertain to pine plantations because of the central role played by pines in meeting the country's timber demands. There are only two classes of plantation diseases viz: needle and root diseases. Stem disease have not been encountered. Diseases of eucalypts are also discussed and an outline of other projects is given viz; timber mycology, blue staining of timber, decay of timber after conversion and seed pathology
