Putative spironucleosis is reported in 4 colonies of mice in the Sydney region. All 4 outbreaks resolved after anti-protozoal medication: 3 employed dimetridazole and the fourth, metronidazole. While S. muris is considered an opportunistic pathogen, no predisposing factors were identified.
