400 birds of a flock of 700 fed a diet containing salinomycin died over 7 days. No gross lesions were detected. Histological myopathy was most readily detected in leg muscles 5 to 7 days after ingestion. In feeding trials, individual susceptibility was found to vary greatly. A marked increase in plasma activities of creatine kinase and aspartate amino transferase preceded histological evidence of muscle necrosis.
