Turnips are grown as a summer fodder for supplementing dairy cows during the summer-autumn period when pasture is scarce and of poor quality. The major topics to be covered at the Field Day were: (a) the nutritive value of turnips in terms of energy, protein, and fibre; (b) animal health problems and how to avoid them; (c) feeding strategies, and their economics; (d) practical management aspects in feeding and resowing.
