Scores for temperament - higher scores indicating poor temperaments - were allocated to 170 bullocks and 240 cows according to their behaviour in a crush and pound. Brahman-cross cattle had higher scores than Shorthorns; the heavier cattle tended to have lower scores; and horned cattle lower than hornless. There was no apparent relationship of temperament with age, fatness or (in cows) pregnancy status
