The fishing industry in Japan, its history and present situation are described, as are the central role that fish plays as a food in Japan, and the country's unusual fish-marketing system. The major markets where Australian chilled fish can be sold are also reviewed. Information on species with export potential, and on current export procedures is included, as is that on establishing business contacts in Japan, and conducting business.
