Data from 1982 to 1992 were entered onto a modified database to analyse all available baitfish catch and effort data. The data are reported as catch and effort by area and by species. It was concluded that baitfishing has not caused any long term detrimental effects on available stocks of baitfish in Fiji, although the decline in the abundance of herring is a cause for concern.
